International Women’s day in Finglas Adult Education Centre

International Women’s Day 2023: “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”

For International Women’s Day, we held a fantastic event at our Adult Education Centre in Finglas to celebrate the wonderful women, staff, and learners in our area.  Our event put learner experiences at the core.

We are grateful to our speakers who contributed to the day. Our student, Siphathisiwe, who currently takes part in one of our digital skills courses spoke about the importance of digital skills for women in this era of digital technology. Our history tutor, Joan Foley, gave a history of influential woman and the development of woman’s rights through the years. Diana’s art students created a display of portraits of inspirational women.

Part of the event included a coffee morning in aid of Women’s Aid where staff and learners baked delicious cakes and food, and over €600 was raised.

This event showed us just how important it is for our centres of education to not only be places for classes but also return to the social spaces they were before the pandemic.
